HELP!
I'm running out of songs to play on our show. Suggestions??? I need song titles! Albums! Canadian artists/groups strongly preferred. It's actually kind of limited to its availability in the CD library in Radio-Canada, but if I can have a longer list I can check if they're in the discotheque. Preferrably not the current batch of sort-of known Canadian indie bands, cos it's very likely I've already played them or checked their availability. It's OK if it's more obscure but good though, as my knowledge is pretty much limited to those covered by Pitchfork and company. Other genres outside of indie rock are strongly welcomed too, as my knowledge is even more meager there.

Trilobite. Gorgeous y'allternative / alt-folk / alt-country / fey ballad rock

And the new Apostle of Hustle. Even though that's in the sort-of-known category. The new Dog Day on Tomlab (I think it's out...) The new Julie Doiron.. on.. uh.. Jagjaguar? I think?

haha believe it or not they don't even have tokyo police club. Maybe it'll be popular in quebec in like a year or something.
the result from the library: mapleweood lane: yes. vancougar: no, and bella: yes. now you see the taste of the quebecois?
thanks!!

gah, songs on myspace are a no-go cos I can't even download them onto my computer and ask the technician to transfer them onto the programme software. if you really want your band to be played in China, send a sample to:

Emission Chinoise
Radio Canada International
1400, boulevard René-Lévesque Est
Montréal QC
Canada
H2L 2M2
please. ;)

anyway just kidding (well or maybe not). strangely enough I've been working in radio for almost a year now, as a "real job" and all... and get paid really well for it. I've never thought I would be in broadcast before though, since I get nervous so easily talking to more than two people. Print has always been what interests me, but I guess that's how things usually work out. As a 'researcher' I'm not on-air regularly, but I have this segment on the show that I spotlight a (preferably Canadian) artist/group about 3 or 4 times a week (it's a daily show). even if it's not strictly canadian, any 'canadian connection' counts... argh, Can-con is the most evil thing, if you ask me.

How about obscure 60s Canadiana?

See if you can dredge up The Ugly Ducklings, The Paupers and Kensington Market (yes, the name of a band.)

Simply Saucer (70s) are pretty great, too.

I can make you a mix CD, if you so desire.

wow they (the library) actually have the Ugly Ducklings, the Paupers and Simply Saucers. They're actually all on these complilations of 60's Canadian bands made by RCA. Maybe I'll have a '60s Canadiana Week' on the show soon cos these music make me happy! (and the liner notes with bios of the bands which would surely facilitate my 'background research' make me even more happy... ) thanks for the recs!

Aww and how can I turn down a mix CD from you! haha for my vanity's sake you can send it to my work if you want, so that I can show off to my co-workers. Address:

Chinese programme (or 'Emission Chinoise' if you're so inclined)
Radio Canada International
1400, boulevard René-Lévesque Est
Montréal QC
H2L 2M2

Also do you know any good Canadian soul/jazz/ska bands?
